Lil’ Iron Man
I’m sure this creation will be familiar to many especially to all Marvel fans or to those who’ve watched the awesome Avengers movie. Introducing to you, the latest addition to littleyarnfriends family: Lil’ Iron Man!
Lil’ Iron Man is approximately 15cm x 9.5cm, just about the right size to display nicely on your desk. Jamie stumbled upon my blog few months ago when I did my art exchange with my cousin Desiree (founder of Bellebelious). Read more about our exciting art exchange “Here” and “Here”. She asked if I could customize an Iron man amigurumi plush toy as a gift for her friend.
Jamie wanted the Iron Man to have a big head and small body (just like an amigurumi). She also mentioned that she wants a cute Iron Man. In the hands of littleyarnfriends, we enjoy turning everything to cute and adorable! And since I’ve never done any super hero creations before, this is an amazing opportunity to do so! To be honest, I was quite nervous and excited at the same time when I took up this project. But no doubt I had a lot of fun trying to turn a macho character like Iron Man into a cute amigurumi plush toy. What do you think? Did I succeed? :)
Are you thinking of making this little cute Iron Man plush toy too? Read on as I share some of my work in progress pictures with you. :)
The picture above is the head and body of Lil’ Iron Man. Look! The head is 2 times bigger than the body and I took the longest time to complete the head as compared to all the other parts. Haha.
Here’s a little collage of the other parts of Lil’ Iron Man.
From Top Left to Right: Iron man’s feet, and Iron man’s arms.
From Bottom Left to RIght: Iron man’s helmet accessory or I called it his ears and the white piece on his chest.
Making these pieces were really quick and easy since they were all pretty small. After I’m done making all the parts, I pieced them together.
Making the mask and face is probably the trickiest part of the entire project. I used some yellow felt that I recently bought to make his mask and little bit of white felt that I found at home that is already in a similar shape like his eyes. I placed the yellow felt against the red crocheted head to roughly gauge how big the mask needs to be before cutting. Then, I cut the mask into 2 pieces to create the line just on top of his eyes.
As for his eyes, I trimmed off the excess white felt at the end to make it more like the shape of Iron Man’s eyes.
Then, I used fabric glue and carefully stick the felt onto Lil’ Iron Man’s face.
Lastly, I sewed on his mouth using white yarn with the help of a yarn needle. I’ve also added a little bit of fabric glue to stick the mouth onto the mask.
And here is my completed Lil’ Iron Man.
This project was not as difficult as I thought it would be. I’m quite pleased with how Lil’ Iron Man turned out. He really does look cute hey? :)
I feel a great sense of accomplishment each time I managed to create something new and meaningful. It brings great satisfaction seeing readers and friends embarking my creating journey with me,appreciate and support what I do. I hope Jamie’s friend like this unique Lil’ Iron Man. I’m in the process of making another amigurumi plush toy that Jamie requested. Can’t wait to share my next project with all of you!
